Linear sequencing works on binary computation where either/or, 0/1, no/yes can progress on a line to reach a sum. But analogs play a different game.
They use increments of plus & minus polarity that combine in many nuances of resonant proportion. When you bond the two so that the chunky binary units and the flowing analog resonances work together, you get the nonlinear dynamics of fractal patterning.
Yes, the everyday world we know has only 4 dimensions. There are 3 of space and 1 of time.

And to top it all off, wouldn’t it be humbling to realize that this ancient math uses a notation that’s far quicker, cleaner, denser, and fuller than our newest geometries and topologies of M-theory can devise?
But it is this very odd possibility that we approach when, in our search for the root of gravitation, we stumble upon God’s TOE and find that it holds up the universe.
